NCC Prayer Vigil

We cover the NCC Sanctuary in prayer from Thursday April 17 to Easter morning

Each year at NCC, we host a prayer vigil, (a time when we intentionally schedule people who pray in the sanctuary (or at home or another special location) each hour from Holy Thursday at 8:30PM straight through until Easter morning at 6AM. I hope you consider taking part in this sacred and inspiring experience.

What is prayer time during the vigil like?

During this individual prayer time you are invited to pray in whatever manner you're most comfortable. For people who choose to come to the sanctuary, we have devotionals, the organ and piano, plenty of bibles, and things to write on to provide options for the many different avenues for prayer.

Some people walk the sanctuary during their prayer time, others sit in a pew, others sit on the floor, some sing, and I bet especially during those shifts at the most challenging times to stay awake, some people may be laying on the floor or on a pew as well. The point is, prayer is a personal thing and there are many ways to spend time with God - it is not a one size fits all kind of thing.

The invitation we are extending to you is to join in and take part in covering the NCC sanctuary in prayer during this special time which commemorates the time between when Jesus was crucified and when he rose on Easter morning. It is a special time and there is something very very special about spending time alone, (or if you prefer with a friend or a partner), in our beautiful and sacred sanctuary.

We have many spots to fill to cover the whole time with prayer! If you'd like to sign up for an hour, great! If you like to sign up for multiple hours or even different hours on different days, that is also great!

For those praying in the Sanctuary at NCC, you will be provided with an access code for the door which will let you in during your scheduled time. Please do not try to share this code with anyone. If you are praying on a different day you will be given a separate access code for that day, too. This helps us track who is entering the Church and keeps everyone inside the building safe.
