Dave Talmage

Hello!

I am Dave Talmage and I’m proud to serve Christ and this community as Music Director here at Newmarket Community Church. It has been a tremendous honor to sing, play instruments, and most of all get to know the musical gifts of the choir and others, and find ways to get new friends involved in worship.

I first arrived in Newmarket on a boat trip with my family and rediscovered the town as an adult.  Some fun highlights of my career in the secular music world include:

Traveling to Seoul Korea to an Irish Pub at age 23 to be a member of the house band. Touring much of the East Coast with my group The Mill City Ramblers while driving around in a 1977 Red White and Blue School Bus. Learning the art of fiddling/dance calling at the same time.  This was through a grant from the New Hampshire Council for the Arts to preserve traditional New Hampshire Barn Dance.  The apprenticeship was from National Heritage Award recipient Dudley Laufman. Performing the New Hampshire Alma Matter four years in a row for UNH’s commencement celebration, one of the largest crowds I’ve played for. This is where I met a great musical friend, Professor David Ripley, who is often found singing in worship at NCC too. Inventing the performance art of rollerblading while hula hooping and playing either fiddle or banjo.

When I’m not at NCC or playing music in unusual ways in unusual places, I can be found at the Academy of Creative Arts Trinity, a grant funded music and arts program, teaching guitar or at Seacoast Family Promise where I am part of the overnight host team for families in transition.

I’ve worn many hats in the music world and my role leading the music here at NCC is a welcome blessing to me.  I look forward to serving the needs of this church on our journey of faith, with the help of God.
