A Moment to Honor Each Life Taken in Uvalde

As we gather for Sunday morning worship this Sunday at 10AM, we will first gather on the church steps to publicly acknowledge and honor each life lost to the mass shooting in Texas. We will name the victims and their families as we toll the church bell for each beloved innocent soul lost. We will pray together and stand together in grief and mourning. We will pray for strength and courage to take action for change in this world.

We will then move into the sanctuary to continue the Sunday worship service. All are welcome to participate in both the shared moments outside on the front steps as well as inside the sanctuary for the whole service.

Some Family History
Life was not easy for my sister Sue, not easy at all. It became clear at an early age that she learned differently than other students and at that time, she was not supported in a way that she needed to thrive academically, socially, or emotionally. Sadly, alcohol addiction and mental health disorders run strong in my family and Suzie was not spared in the family lineage. In adulthood she struggled a great deal in this way and it hurt her and the people she loved in so many ways. To say my relationship with her was complicated is an understatement. It has always eaten away at me that while in my ministry I could help many people in many ways, I could never help my own sister.

Join Us this Sunday and Stay in Love with God!
We’ll finish our Living Faith series as we reflect on James 5:13-20; pray when you’re sad, pray when you’re filled with joy, pray, pray, pray! Pastor Patty returns home from Guatemala in the early hours of Saturday morning filled with fresh inspiration and energized by the Spirit. This was her first trip back to Guatemala since January 2020.

Come and be inspired, come to find peace, come to re-center and share some time with your friends at NCC.

Immediately following the service, you are invited to join in for coffee and just-out-of-the-oven blueberry pound cake in the Fellowship Hall.
